Particle filtering masks are also called FFP1, FFP2 or FFP3 masks, depending on the permeability of the filter. They are used for self-protection against droplets and aerosols. In contrast to medical face masks, these masks are not considered a medical product but personal protective equipment. They may only be certified by a Notified Body recognized by the European Union.
